RCPA Undergraduate Award in Pathology [F8741]The Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia having agreed to provide from time to time the sum of $2000 which will be available as advised by the Western Australian Branch Council, for the purpose of stimulating interest in laboratory medicine among medical students, the RCPA Undergraduate Award in Pathology is established and is administered in accordance with the following regulations. 1. The award is offered by the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences as available, having regard to the recommendation of the Head of the School of Surgery and Pathology following consultation with the academic staff in surgery and pathology, to the student who gains the highest mark in the pathology component of IMED3325 Foundations of Pathology and IMED3326 Introduction to Systemic Pathology in the course for the degree of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. 2. The award is conditional on the selected student being attached for six weeks during the summer vacation to a laboratory approved by the Head of the School of Surgery and Pathology or nominee. 3. The head of the approved laboratory will monitor and report on the awardee's progress to the RCPA through the Head of the School of Surgery and Pathology or nominee. 4. If the first person to whom the award is offered does not accept it then no award will be made that year. |
