The War Widows' Guild of Western Australia having made a donation of $300,000 to the University for the purpose of providing a scholarship for research into breast cancer, the scholarship is established and is administered in accordance with the following conditions. 1. The scholarship is called the War Widows' Guild of Western Australia Scholarship for Research into Breast Cancer. 2. The scholarship is provided from the income of the fund after capitalisation in accordance with Senate policy. 3. The purpose of the scholarship is to facilitate and to encourage students to pursue full-time postgraduate research into the prevention, treatment and management of breast cancer within the Faculties of Medicine and Dentistry and Life and Physical Sciences at The University of Western Australia. 4.(1) The scholarship may be a full or supplementary scholarship. (2) The annual value of the scholarship is determined from time to time by the Scholarships Committee. 5. The scholarship is open to all graduates in science or medicine from The University of Western Australia or another recognised tertiary institution who hold a degree normally of at least 2A honours standard or its equivalent. 6. The scholarship is normally awarded for three years but may be extended by six months at the discretion of the Scholarships Committee. 7. The Deans of the Faculties of Medicine and Dentistry and Life and Physical Sciences are members of the Scholarships Selection Committee for the purposes of awarding the scholarship. 8. Any publications or thesis resulting from research financed wholly or partly by the scholarship must acknowledge the assistance of the War Widows' Guild of Western Australia. |
