Centre for Aboriginal Medical and Dental Health Scholarships [F4742]The Centre for Aboriginal Medical and Dental Health having agreed to set aside $4000 each year to provide financial support for students of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent enrolled in one of the Faculty's undergraduate courses who are suffering economic hardship, the Centre for Aboriginal Medical and Dental Health Scholarships are established and administered in accordance with the following regulations. 1. The amount of each scholarship is determined by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences on the written recommendation of the Director of the Centre for Aboriginal Medical and Dental Health but will not normally exceed $2000. 2. The allocation of financial assistance to a single student during the course of their studies must not exceed $4000. 3. To be eligible for a scholarship a student must— (a) be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent; (b) be enrolled in one of the undergraduate degree courses in the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences; (c) demonstrate that, without the assistance of a scholarship, the economic hardship that they would suffer would seriously affect their ability to complete the course in which they are enrolled successfully within a reasonable period of time; and (d) in the opinion of the Director of the Centre for Aboriginal Medical and Dental Health, have the capacity to complete the course in which they are enrolled successfully. 4. Applications for a scholarship may be made at any time during the year and must be in writing addressed to the Director of the Centre for Aboriginal Medical and Dental Health. 5. The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences awards the scholarship on the written recommendation of the Director of the Centre for Aboriginal Medical and Dental Health. |
