RegulationsAd Hoc Honours ScholarshipsExcept where covered by specific University regulations. 1. Scholarships are awarded for educational purposes only, and must not be tied to a specific research project unless otherwise authorised by the Scholarships Committee. 2. Scholarships are offered on the authority of the dean(s) concerned, and the dean(s) may delegate to head(s) of school(s) the authority to allocate the scholarships. 3. Scholarships are normally available to full-time students enrolled in the final year of an honours course, but may in special circumstances be offered to other honours students. 4. Students accepting a scholarship are not required to enter into any bond either during the course of or at the conclusion of their studies. 5. The faculty or school awarding a scholarship must publicly and appropriately advertise the award, and the award will be made on academic merit after receiving advice from a representative selection panel. 6. In respect of the awarding of scholarships, the dean(s) concerned must take due care that the University's equity policies are observed and that legal proprieties, especially concerning taxation matters, are observed. |
