Baker Hughes INTEQ Scholarship in Engineering (One Year) * [F18082]

An asterisk (*) indicates that this scholarship is governed by conditions. This scholarship is governed by the General Conditions for Scholarships for Coursework Students except as set out in the conditions that follow.

Baker Hughes INTEQ provides funds for a scholarship at The University of Western Australia for students studying engineering who are interested in pursuing a career in the oil and gas servicing industry. The scholarship is administered in accordance with the following conditions.

Title
1. The scholarship is called the Baker Hughes INTEQ Scholarship in Engineering (One Year).

Value
2. The value of the scholarship is $5000.

Eligibility Requirements
3. To be eligible to apply for a scholarship an applicant must be—

(a) a citizen or permanent resident of Australia; and

(b) intending to enrol in the final 48 points of the Oil and Gas Engineering or Petroleum Engineering programme either in the Bachelor of Engineering course or in a combined course including a Bachelor of Engineering component in the year in which the scholarship is taken up.

Body Responsible for Selection
4.(1) The selection committee for the scholarship comprises—

(a) the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics or nominee;

(b) the Head of the School of Civil and Resource Engineering, or nominee; and

(c) a representative from Baker Hughes INTEQ.

Selection Criteria
5.(1) The scholarship is awarded by the Board of the Faculty of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics, on the recommendation of the selection committee, to the applicant who, in its opinion, best demonstrates in their application and supporting documentation—

(a) academic achievement as evidenced by their academic record;

(b) excellent interpersonal and communication skills;

(c) dedication to working safely;

(d) integrity;

(e) ability to work as part of a team; and

(f) a commitment to learning and performance.

Selection Process
6.(1) Selection of the recipient is made by the selection committee having regard to the applicant's academic record, completed application form and referee reports, where applicable.

(2) The selection committee interviews short-listed applicants.

Application Procedure
7.(1) The scholarship is advertised annually by the Faculty of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics in time for an application to be submitted for the relevant year.

(2) Applications addressing the selection criteria must be made on the application form available from the Faculty of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics and be accompanied by—

(a) a brief curriculum vitae including present and previous work experience where applicable; and

(b) where applicable, the names and contact details of two work experience referees.

(3) Applications must be submitted to the Senior Faculty Administrative Officer of the Faculty of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics by the advertised closing date.

Awarding Body
8. The scholarship is awarded by the Board of the Faculty of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics on the recommendation of the selection committee.

Method of Payment
9. The scholarship is paid in two instalments, one on or after the census date in each of first and second semesters.

Duration
10. The scholarship is tenable for two semesters which are normally consecutive.

Concurrent Scholarships
11. The scholarship may be held concurrently with another external or University award provided that the conditions of the other award so permit.

Administration
12. The scholarship is administered by the Faculty of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics.

Publications
13. Any thesis, dissertation or other publication arising from research undertaken by the recipient while in receipt of the Baker Hughes INTEQ Scholarship in Engineering (One Year) must acknowledge the assistance of the scholarship and carry the University by-line.
