Mt Romance Charles Burleigh Science Scholarship * [F7502]

An asterisk (*) indicates that this scholarship is governed by conditions. This scholarship is governed by the General Conditions for Scholarships for Coursework Students except as set out in the conditions that follow.

Mt Romance having agreed to fund a scholarship to encourage and support students undertaking science studies at the UWA Albany Centre, the Mt Romance Charles Burleigh Science Scholarship is established and is awarded in accordance with the following conditions.

1. The value of the scholarship is $1000.

2. The scholarship is tenable for one year only.

3. To be eligible to apply for the scholarship students must—

(a) be citizens or permanent residents of Australia; and

(b) be enrolled through the UWA Albany Centre in a degree offered by the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences, Faculty of Life and Physical Sciences or Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences.

4. The scholarship is awarded on the basis of—

(a) demonstrated high academic achievement in relevant subjects; and

(b) a demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in a science-related field.

5. Written applications addressing the selection criteria must be made on the application form available from the UWA Albany Centre and accompanied by a brief curriculum vitae.

6. Applications must be submitted by the advertised closing date, usually in February, to the Scholarships Programme, UWA Albany Centre.

7. The selection committee comprises:

(a) the Director of the UWA Albany Foundation, or nominee; and

(b) the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences, or nominee; or

(c) the Dean of the Faculty of Life and Physical Sciences, or nominee; or

(d) the Dean of the Faculty Natural and Agricultural Sciences, or nominee.

8. Shortlisted applicants may be interviewed by the selection committee.

9. The successful applicant must, by the end of the year of award, provide a written report to the University and Mt Romance on their academic achievements whilst in receipt of the scholarship.

10. The UWA Albany Centre administers and advertises the scholarship.
