Mt Romance Bessie Flower Indigenous Australian Scholarship * [F7501]An asterisk (*) indicates that this scholarship is governed by conditions. This scholarship is governed by the General Conditions for Scholarships for Coursework Students except as set out in the conditions that follow. Mt Romance having agreed to fund a scholarship to encourage Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander students to pursue tertiary education at The University of Western Australia, the Mt Romance Bessie Flower Indigenous Australian Scholarship is established and is awarded in accordance with the following conditions. 1. The value of the scholarship is $1000. 2. The scholarship is tenable for one year only. 3. To be eligible to apply for the scholarship applicants must— (a) be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent; and (b) have applied to study at the UWA Albany Centre. 4. The scholarship is awarded on the basis of— (a) demonstrated high level of academic achievement; or (b) work experience. 5.(1) Written applications addressing the selection criteria must be made on the application form available from the UWA Albany Centre and be accompanied by— (a) the applicant's academic record; (b) a brief curriculum vitae; and (c) the names and contact details of two referees. (2) At least one referee must be from academia, and, in the case of those applying on the basis of work experience, one referee must be from the area of employment. 6. Applications must be submitted by the advertised closing date to the Scholarships Programme, UWA Albany Centre. 7. The selection committee comprises: (a) the Chair of the UWA Albany Foundation, or nominee; and (b) the Director of the UWA Albany Centre. 8. Shortlisted applicants may be interviewed by the selection committee. 9.(1) The scholarship is paid subject to continued enrolment in an undergraduate degree course at The University of Western Australia. (2) The scholarship is paid pro rata in two parts, one at the beginning of each semester. 10. The successful applicant must, by the end of the year of award, provide a written report to the University and Mt Romance on their academic achievements whilst in receipt of the scholarship. 11. The UWA Albany Centre administers and advertises the scholarship. |
