Hackett Foundation Alumni Honours Scholarship * [F17828]

An asterisk (*) indicates that this scholarship is governed by conditions. This scholarship is governed by the General Conditions for Scholarships for Coursework Students except as set out in the conditions that follow.

The Hackett Foundation Alumni Honours Scholarship has been established with generous donations from alumni of The University of Western Australia (the University). Ten scholarships are awarded each year to assist and encourage students who have demonstrated academic excellence to undertake an honours course at the University. At least one scholarship is awarded in each faculty and at least one to an Indigenous student in any faculty. A fund is established for the purpose and the scholarship is administered in accordance with the following conditions.

Title
1.
The scholarship is called the Hackett Foundation Alumni Honours Scholarship.

Value
2.
The value of the scholarship is $6000.

Purpose
3.
The purpose of the scholarship is to encourage students who demonstrate academic excellence in their undergraduate studies at the University, to pursue an honours course. 

Eligibility Requirements
4.(1)
To be eligible for consideration a student must—

(a) be a citizen or permanent resident of Australia;

(b) have demonstrated academic excellence in their undergraduate studies at the University; and

(c) have been accepted for enrolment in an honours course at the University.

(2) One scholarship is specifically for an Indigenous student in any faculty. 

Body Responsible for Selection
5.
The body responsible for selection is the relevant Faculty Board or the School of Indigenous Studies, as appropriate.

Selection Criteria
6.
The scholarship is awarded to an eligible student solely on academic achievement.

Selection Process
7.
Selection of the recipient is made by the relevant selection committee having regard to the students' academic record.

Awarding Body
8.
The scholarship is awarded by the Scholarships Committee on the recommendation of the relevant selection committee.

Method of Payment
9.(1)
The scholarship is paid in two equal instalments.

(2) Each instalment is paid on or following the first semester or second semester census dates, as relevant. 

Duration of Award
10.
The scholarship is tenable for up to two semesters which are normally consecutive.

Application Procedure
11.
No application is required.

Administering Body
12.
The scholarship is administered by the Scholarships Committee.

Publications
13.
Any thesis, dissertation or other publication resulting from research undertaken by the recipient while in receipt of the Hackett Foundation Alumni Honours Scholarship must acknowledge the support of the scholarship and carry the University by-line.

Intellectual Property
14.
Intellectual property is governed by the University's Intellectual Property policy available on the University's web site.
